Background Information

Dr. Wycliffe Nyachoti Otiso is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya and a Certified Professional Mediator. He is a member of the Law Society of Kenya and East Africa Law Society and International Association of Law Schools (IALS). He has sat on committees and boards of professional organizations and statutory corporations. Currently, he serves as a member of the Editorial Committee for the Law Society of Kenya. Dr. Otiso served on the Kisii University College Council providing advice on diverse legal and corporate governance issues. He provides advisory services on corporate law and corporate governance to several corporate entities, non-governmental organizations and public institutions. He is a consultant to leading law firms on corporate governance, corporate matters and commercial transactions.

Dr Otiso is a holder of Bachelor of Laws degree from University of Warwick, Master of Laws degree from University of Nairobi, and a PhD in Law and Political Science at the Universite de Pau et des Pays de L’Adour (UPPA). Dr. Otiso is a Senior Lecturer at the Chuka University School of Law. … Dr. Otiso was Chair of Public Law and Lecturer at Kisii University where he taught, supervised and mentored undergraduate and postgraduate students for over 10 years. He was the 2019 Host Collaborator for Carnegie African Diaspora Fellow at Kisii University. He has taught constitutional law, law of business associations, property law and administrative law. Other teaching interests include; legal research, legislative drafting, law reform and social justice. He has published papers on: law and governance, citizenship, policing and law reform; and, presented papers on, ethics, access to justice, legal research and digital rights. Prior to joining Kisii University, Dr. Otiso was a Law and Policy Officer at the Department of Governance and Ethics. He is an Editor of Law Society of Kenya (LSK) Journal, Advocates Magazine, an Associate Editor for Berkely University Comparative Equality and Anti-Discrimination Law (BCCE) journal and a peer reviewer for several journals. He is also keen on corporate social responsibility and has worked as a pro-bono advisor to non-profit non-governmental organizations involved in advocacy on issues related to barriers to access to health, access to justice, empowerment of minorities and vulnerable persons in society. Dr Otiso is a member of the Berkley University Centre for Comparative Equality and Anti-Discrimination Law.
